Hi Ric, yes as far as I know muslin is a lint free material, good for mirrors etc so should do the job.
Cheesecloth is also suitable for applying stains and oils.

Cheesecloth is a little harder to source than baby squares but thanks both of you for the advice
It seems many people use microfibre cloths to apply Danish oil, very cheap in Wilco etc. How about using an old cotton t shirt, they're also supposed to be good for this sort of job.
J cloths are good for applying danish oil.

Apparently microfibres cloths and cotton jersey t shirt material is, have a Google and look at what people who use Danish oil use.
