Am stuck on
8d where west gives way to special range (?p?e?e)
Isit sphere? Can't see why, could anyone explain.
Also 25d I'm thinking must be ton, but I can't see the connection with beat.
Seems to have been a bit obscure all week, or maybe it's just me.....

Could it be that take W (west) from Where and add SP special gives you Sphere?


I suppose 25 could be Tan T (time) + an ?

25d. Beat time on one. = TAN. Time = T. one = an (as in an apple) = Tan to beat .. (as in smack). You are certainly right about being obscure all week - I also thought it was me being thick after the holiday week-end but it did go on all week.
