Suture Removal. Any Benefit To Leaving Them In Longer Than Necessary?
5 Answers
I recently had surgery on my nose, and now have 3 little stitches in the little piece of skin between my nostrils
when i went back to the hospital, the doc said to get the stitches out at a local gp or walk in on tuesday (today) - which will be 11 days after the surgery.
but i just wondered if there is any benefit to leaving them a bit longer?
they are not sore, not bothering me, and i have no plans to go out anywhere for a good few days at least.
or should i do it asap?
i looked online and it said the average time for face is only 3-5 days, or 7-10 for scalp - but then also said they might put adhesive tape or something on anyway.
my friend is a nurse so i was just going to ask her to do it, save having to go to the docs etc - but obviously she wont have anything else to put on it.
does it need to have something put on it?
thanks for any advice

I know, I had this problem last year when I had stitches in my foot then covered with a plaster. Ten weeks later, when the plaster was removed, it took two nurses three quarters of an hour to remove the stitches and boy, was it painful.
