I do remember a horrendous summer of rain and chilly breezes here in Northern Ireland back in the 70s. I think it was just before or just after the really hot summer we had in 76. Not certain of the exact year, but it definitely was the worst three summer months I can remember. Relentless rain. There was big political upheaval here at the time, too, workers' strike, no electricity, couldn't get coal or oil as the docks had been taken over by the paramilitaries, so no heating or cooking. I vividly remember queuing in the rain to get basic food for my 2 year old and my new baby. Horrendous, both weather-wise and politically.
