Nuisance Calls

Anybody getting nuisance calls this am? Have had 3 already though in TPS.
All funny numbers and not found on Google either. Can usually find what they are on there.

I had one on my mobile not long after I got into work. The reviews were a bit sketchy so I blocked the number anyway.
I had 3 from the same lot at home yesterday in 1 hour and it was 5 the day before - if they phone me once more I'm going to lose my cool.

mum has been getting calls from an 020 number ..purporting to be HMRC collecting evidence against her in a law suit !! what baloney..apparently coming from India but being routed so it looks like London..differing numbers so can't block but all 020..BT aware...

That's crazy Minty! Glad you are getting it sorted. My favourite was 'Howie' from some Debt Agency telling me about my outstanding debts...funny all my debts are consolidated and being dealt with. If he was called Howie I really am the Queen!

apparently it's now illegal for cold-callers to hide behind a witheld or private number. but the cold-callers are already ahead, and have the ability to "spoof" numbers. i had a call yesterday purporting to be from Mallaig (01687) but was actually an online wine merchant whose registered office is in London.

Didn't realise that mushroom. No wonder mine look strange - 0494 - 0389 -0038. Three different start codes. Not answering them now. Rude to last one! I was up a ladder cleaning windows then.
One was talking about when Talktalk got hacked - told him he was one of them and hang up.

If you use voice over internet protocols you can pretty much invent the number you are calling from to appear as if you are UK based.

I keep getting calls asking for the x-ray department of a certain hospital!

We were getting daily numerous International calls from Indians enquiring about our Sky TV or Broadband or PPI calls despite being registered with the TPS, who can't stop international calls anyway.

We replaced our phone with a BT8600 call blocker phone and we have silence once more. I pick it up occasionally to hear the dial tone as I think it may not be working as it hadn't rung for a long time. Money well spent.

I loathe the number withheld or call restricted nonsense

Last one I got had a Pulborough, West Sussex code and was a funeral arrangement company.....left three messages on my landline and two on my mobile......when I picked up one of their calls a few days later I told the guy that I will be arranging his if he called me again. He didn't:-)

Have tried that, alba. Thanks. They usually come up if they are on there when you Google. Will try that phone Dodger recommends when I get a new one. In the meantime have just stopped answering unless it comes up as one I know.

I've got Caller Display and just don't answer any I don't know. If it's personal they leave a message. I keep getting calls from "International" and 020 numbers.
TPS don't stop any which originate from outside the UK.

OH had one this morning - about his car accident. errrrrm he hasn't had one for over 20 years?
