Hi all,

A mate of mine has rebuilt my Dell windows XP laptop.
Unfortunately, when ever I try to install my Canon printer, or click on 'add printer' I get an error message saying something like 'the printer spooller has stopped'.

How do I get it going so I can re-instal my printer please?

Thanks all in advance

Go to the Canon website get the latest driver for your machine and OS and install
The Print Spooler service is program that runs in the background. It can be started with the command:

net start spooler

However if installing the printer makes it crash there my be some problem with the compatibility of the driver. Do you have the right driver?

BTW XP is well past its use by. You should not go in the internet with it as there are serious unpatched flaws that are widely publicised. If you are willing to take the risk then at least use Firefox as your browser. It won't protect you much but it does carry its own security certificate information. IE and Chrome both use the Windows certificates which are not updated for XP.
