Cats have killed a bat

One of my cats (dont know which one, they wont confess lol) has killed a bat :-( I came home today to find it in the hall (well, half of it was in the living room, yuck!) I'm upset cause I love bats!!
But, how on earth did they manage to catch a bat?? I'm pretty sure my cats cant fly (not last time I checked anyway lol)

How do you know they can't fly? huh? huh? Just because they haven't told you, doesnt mean they can't! ;-)

Seriously though, it could be something simple that the bat was dead or dieing when they got to it.

BOO is probably right - it was probably sick, or even just old, which put it within range of your little angels - how kind of them to share their triumph with you!

Yes Andy, terribly generous of them! lol Think how proud I will be if my little darlings have introduced rabies into my house!! What every home should have!

Don't know, but our old cat managed it too (she was a prolific hunter, who would bring home a 'gift' every night).

I saw my moggy catch a bat one night. There's a stream at the bottom of our garden and the bats would swoop in low to catch all the insects. One night batty got his rate of descend rong and swooped low a bit too early. Splash jumped up, like Najinsky on speed (the dancer, not the horse) and caught the poor little flittermouse then came galumphing up the garden with it, eager to share his prize catch. I locked him out the house.

He's also managed to catch pheasant. We had that for Sunday dinner.
