Cryptic clue

"Muddy ocean pensioner" does anyone have any ideas as to what each word in this clue might mean?
I'm hoping that with a few hints I might be able to work it out. The answer is a Northamptonshire place name with no number of letters given. I have posted it before but received no answers so I am now after a few hints to try to solve it. I have to post the quiz on Monday or Tuesday to get it in on time. Please can anyone help?

Got it! I've never come across that word for a farmyard before but you are right - the definition is in Chambers dictionary. Thank you! it has been driving me mad for weeks.

Well done,letterboxer. i would never have got that in a million years! I thought muddy might indicate an anagram. A weird clue,isn't it? pensioner-grave! and farmyard for muddy.Learnt a new word for farmyard-barton.

No,you didn't .I looked up farmyard in the Bradford's Dictionary and saw barton.Next looked at the site for place names and hey presto.Still think grave is not a very good clue for pensioner(me being one!) Your clues were good-it's the setter's clue I thought weird.

Iwould have been interested in this quiz but not if the setter cannot provide number of letters in the answer.
