Kids Maths Genius On Ch 4
12 Answers
What a brilliant remark from one of the 12 year old youngsters....
"I don't think winning the World Maths competition is going to get me into Harvard University."
One of mine is way up there at a similar age and has been covering diff.calculus, spherical trig and quadratics at this age.. I think that she would agree with the above remark....
However, any such pearls of wisdom remarks from kids you know or have heard of?

Some I think like it
Mr Broon, one eye, ex prime minister felt that the hot-housing at Kirkaldy Academy had damaged him
where as others are thankful they are saved from boredom
I suppose it is the same for the sportsmen ( boys ) who are good
but not that good
so never really make it altho they were outstanding at skool

I usually feel sorry for kids who excel in a given subject or the beauty queen pageants. Being a kid and doing kid stuff will give them a much better grounding and experience of life than getting into university at ten to study something. I used to drag home large dogs so that they 'followed me home' but my mother was cruel and wouldn't let me keep them.
I liked Mr Broon but he was, perhaps, socially inept and a typical dour Scotsman. He was intelligent and understood all the political carp. Like Mr Corbyn he was misunderstood.

Granddaughter (10) entered Young Writers' Comp. this year and has been published.
She didn't tell me about it and when I saw result and offered general advice in future about how to move a story on etc. (perfectly normal teaching advice and not writing anything for her)the response was "That would be cheating."
I'm still drawing breath - I tried to explain that using me would be like using any resource such as a dictionary or a thesaurus, but she was adamant.
Stubborn, bless her ---- wonder where she gets it from?

No, peachybabe, I have NEVER, ever pushed her - I lived in France, she was growing up in England, so I only saw her for a couple of days a year - although I always kept her well supplied with books and said how great reading and books were. She just doesn't think it is anything special. That is just what you do. Her mum graduated in Pure Chemistry at Durham. I stood back, in awe at that, and said well done, how can I help? (I just about know some basic chemistry - but it ends at H20 being a compound of Hydrogen with Oxygen.............don't know where daughter got it from.)
Much the same here - but her dad, is just generally a creative person - he is into ideas and has just begun his second company, hitting areas in training that others have missed. So she has creativity on both sides and well back. I help a bit with the boring 'wording' of documents when he (S.I.L.) wants a second opinion, that's all. Her school encouraged entries into this competition. I believe she came in the last 10 in the UK, which is pleasing.
She's forgotten it now and is concentrating on a tennis school course which will arrive in Summer. She's useless, totally un-co-ordinated, but likes it (she's now 5ft. 5" so is somewhat gangly, bless her).
