Somehow my 'at' sign has dissapeared! I can only use ' even with the shuift key down...

Can you get all the other shifted characters? In particular, is shift-3 still a �? If 'yes' and 'yes' then I don't believe you!

believe him! it happens all the time on computers, i think they get confused in old age or summit! mine used to do it but it's magically corrected itself now?! werid! anyway you can normally find '@' disguising itself as the " . Hope i helped!

If the " has become then @, then I'd would surmise also the � has become # Which is why I asked.

It sounds like your keyboard is in a different language. Go to the control panel and click on the keyboard, check it`s country is English UK not English USA
