I'm looking for first hand recommendations for small friendly campsites on Anglesey. I prefer basic sites, preferably less than 50 pitches but with electric hook-ups available. Not to keen on caravan sites with camping pitches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This might be a good place to start:

I suggest using the filters down the left to, for example, exclude club sites but include showers (or whatever your needs might be) and then clicking on 'Update Search'. From there you can zoom in on the map and then click on specific sites of interest to access their details and, importantly, reviews from people who've stayed there.
Its a brave man that comes anywhere near Wales in July-August with a tent !

I always appreciate it when people take the time to reply to a question, however I would really like first hand recommendations. I don't get mikey444's comment, rain, winds, crowds, midges, welsh rarebit or is it an invasion of Scousers.

Missed your post first time round sam. (sapele haha very veneered). One of my brothers used to camp here at Benllech and always enjoyed it. If you don't know Anglesey keep posting on this thread and I will do my best to reply. I have lived in N.Wales since 1968 and love it. I know Mon very well. Post and tell us if you have youngsters with you etc. I have highlighted a location close to the Menai Straits so that you can get off and on the Island if you wish to visit the Llyn (superb) or get up the A5 to Betwys Y Coed etc.
sapelesam....mostly the rain....tents and Welsh weather can be a miserable combination....and I speak from nearly 50 years experience.

Thanks Togo, we are an early retired couple that are not members of any caravan or camping clubs. We travel on our own with too much kit and other than hook ups and Wi-Fi if possible we like small friendly sites where we can relax and enjoy the surroundings. You are one of very few that knows Sapele wood. I was brought up in Sapele Nigeria.
Ta for BA sam. I know about sapele from my time of and on building sites etc and the use of Sapele veneer for fire doors and the like. You will love Anglesey, or Ynys Mon to give it's correct Welsh name. I am sure that the site my brother used is the one I have linked below. The advantage of a site at the Menai Straits end of the island I sthat you can still cover the whole island easily in a 30 minute drive but you can also get off and on using either bridge to have a look at the rest of N.Wales. Just a tip the bridges can be pretty busy around 5.00PM so best avoided in the busy summer months at that time. Usually no problem for most of the day.
