I have a swallows nest at the front of my house at the top of the gable end It is making a right mess on my bedroom cill also I have a canopy on my bay window which has been splattered. What I would ask does any one know if I can remove the nest and put up some wire ready for next year when all breeding has ceased and the birds have gone abroad as I always new you cannot disturb a nest in the breeding season. Thanks
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 only makes it an offence to disturb swallow nests while they're occupied or being built. You can remove it once the birds have vacated it and, if you so choose, take measures to prevent them from building there again.
