"But seriously - how should these mentally inadequate losers be dealt with? " - to answer that SP we have to look at what is now available to your common or garden troll. Twitface and bumtube etc give these "people" power to reach beyond where they ever have before. I personally think that social media will eventually collapse under the weight of it's own putrefaction. In the mean time we must endure these morons.

It harks back to the oft-quoted (by me among others!) maxim - 'Freedom of speech does not permit the false shouting of 'Fire!' in a crowded theatre.

Not that it overly matters, but the social media craze of 2014 known as the Ice Bucket Challenge has been attributed to a massive rise in funds that led to a medical breakthrough in understanding the disease ALS.
Social media is a powerful force and while I don't think everyone knows how to use it properly yet this idea that it is wholly a waste of time, and filled exclusively or at least mostly with morons, is flying in the face of facts.

I suppose I could add to that thousands of other positive benefits, but I can also mention the failure of Turkey's recent coup attempt. Whatever the consequences of that, the role of social media in unifying the response to the coup attempt was huge, and it's entirely plausible that without such a rapid means of organising a response, the coup attempt would have been successful.
Nope, social media is here to stay -- and while yes it gives trolls, or those with outdated or narrow-minded opinions, a far wider-reaching voice than they would have otherwise, it follows that the converse is true as well, and forces for genuine and positive change can spread farther and wider than they could have without.

I like social media (AB & FB are my limit) but I am not too fond of people. Too many keyboard warriors/trolls who wouldn't have the balls to say what they type to a person out in the real world.
