Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows why my little Schipperke, about 2 wks before she goes into season poo's in the house, every morning I get out of bed shes done it on the carpet, its usually about 2/3 wks and then she stops, I take her out all the time and even before we go to bed no matter what time it is, but she still does it, she's fine every other time / Thanx in advance for reply's

Not an expert, but I would suggest that her faeces may contain scents that will advise males that she is coming into season, so she is ' advertising' in advance. Because she will want to mate somewhere where she knows she is safe - again survival instinct - she will advertise on her home territory, so the males come to her there. Unfortunatel y, her 'home...

Unfortunately, her 'home territory' doubles as your house!
It's doubtful you can train her out of this - it's primeval procreation instincts at work - but if she is prone to use the same spot or area, cover it with newspaper.

sounds like a hormonal problem. Neutering should do the trick. Its unusual not to neuter if not need for breeding. Dont worry about it. The dog will be none the wiser. Talk to your vet first as its important to do it exactly at the right time otherwise she will continue to be 'hormonal'. Vet may say she could be too old to learn new behaviour. Do it anyway - shes a dog!
