I am very sorry if this offend anyone but i need to ask this as i dont no where else to turn. My son is 16 and he has asked me about his foreskin, i have never had to deal with something like this before. He asked if he should pull it back all the way because he never had, i said yes. But now he is worried about it because he has done it, and says that it hurts once hes pulled it all the way back. please give me some advice.

Yes it will hurt a bit originally Better to try when bathing in warm water this can help plus it is essential to keep behind the foreskin clean, It will also help him with sexual intercourse later.

For some men the foreskin is just too tight to pull back all the way. My ex was in this situation and sex with a condom was very uncomfortable for him as a result. It's a real medical condition which can be treated by circumcision which might seem a bit drastic but maybe it's worth letting your son know this is an option?

Also if he has an erection whilst pulling the foreskin back, it can be painful due to the fact that not all erections have the same 'tumescence' or hardness. The foreskin does stretch to a certain degree, with regular masturbation or sex.
It might be possible that the doctor can recommend a less drastic solution that circumcision - perhaps stretching. Also, I think the more he pulls it back, it will stretch itself and hurt less.
my son had a similar prob when he was younger - he's 16 now with no probs. the gp suggested gentle stretching each day when washing. coupla months and he was fine. good luck

My friend in Oz says her son had similar problem & was told by GP to stretch gently over a period of time & to use a prescribed steriod type cream that speeds up the process. Might be worthwile speaking to your own GP about it. The link below has some useful info on it.

I had the same problem until I was 30 years old - I was too embarrassed to talk to my parents, you are very lucky to have a son that trusts your discretion (even if you have just told several thousand people ;o)) Anyway, it never stopped me fathering two children. I then had a simple procedure called a fremulaplasty (after a failed course of steroids) under a local aneasthetic(?) which is an easier option than a full circumcision and haven't had a problem since. Please encourage him to speak to a doctor about it, a couple of minutes of embarassment with his doctor will make his life so much easier - I wish I had had the nerve to speak to someone.
