If I am going anywhere I can make huge lists of things that can go wrong. I make myself ill worrying about the journey and my cats.

I'm as fit as I'll ever be. I'm going on my own but you usually meet up with other people and walk stretches of the way with them. I won't bring a phone. I want to get away for a while. Mostly bushes where you can find one. Otherwise you expect passers by to avert their eyes. I'm told the cyber cafes are closed now as most people have their phones.
Wolf63, things are looking up and I feel as though a great burden has been lifted off my shoulders.
There's a document you take called a credential which allows you to take a bed in a pilgrim hostal. You get it stamped to show you've walked and also it serves as a souvenir. There's an area of Dublin called St James Gate. In the past it must have been where the pilgrims set sail to Spain. Now it's the site of the Guinness brewery and there's also a St James church nearby. I'll use my free pensioners travel to go down later this week and get my credential stamped. Both Guinness and the church offer a stamp and it seems only right, as drink has played a much bigger part in my life than religion, that the honour of the first stamp should go to the brewers of the black stuff.
Psybbo, I'll but a SIM card when I get there and use it in my phone
