dvd recorder

my Sony dvd recorder RDR-GX210 has started to dispay Can not play this disc, to every disc put in it.All these disc have been recorded or played on this recorder before.Now it will neither play or record anything.ANY HELP PLEASE.

Hi fairfax, have you, sorry if obvious, tried unplugging the unit for a few minutes then back in again to see if it will reset? or tried a cd/dvd cleaner? perhaps the laser lens is dirty. Is there a set-up screen where you can select the type of discs (ie + or - rw's, should be a marking on the discs you use) if so maybe it's been changed to the wrong type. My panasonic doesn't have this option but perhaps yours does. Failing that, if you have a warranty take it back to the shop for an exchange. Best of luck...Dagman

Thanks dagman tried all your ideas but no luck.Got in touch with Sony they are going to replace it with no fuss. many thanks Fairfax.
