If You Had A Twin, But Didn't Realise...

Being a girl, i have no idea about my car and am totally reliant on the Kwit-Fit man being honest!
I need the part that goes from the exhaust to the engine (manifold i think? Sits under the engine...) replaced and have been quoted 150, the other 3 parts of the exhaust were replaced about 10 months ago so are fine.
Does this sound a resonable cost?
Thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Exhaust manifolds normally last many years and I would question WHY this needs changing so soon. If a new exhaust was changed just 10 months ago, was it damaged during fitting? Kwick-fit are not cheap and I would ask them how much of this 150 is parts and how much is for labour?
I would ask around for a smaller garage that relies on it's reputation for business and not just it's name. This job doesn't take long if other parts are O.K. This should save you pounds and good advice. When you find this garage, hang on to it and they will look after you.
Why not add your home area on your add (not your address) and a mechanic may reply and offer help?
Thanks for you advice, having gone to another private garage, i've been told that it's a Front Down Pipe (under the manifold...not a problem with the manifold....still means not alot to me), and that the actual manifold is fine.....and he's quoted me at 100. The Kwik-Fit guy called me back this morning and said it would actually be 250 if i went there!
Thanks for you help and prompting me to go elsewhere....will avoid kwik-fit in future!
Very glad to hear my suggestion has not only saved you money but had a proper diagnoses of the problem. Where do Kwik-Fit get their mechanics from? Keep your invoice as this will be a guarantee for the down pipe. If this was changed ten months ago, it should be under warranty and a new one fitted F.O.C. Get back to the garage who fitted it.
Keep your ear to the ground for a good recommended local garage or mechanic and they will look after you and your car.
