Marriage proposal
8 Answers
As it's a leapyear my friend is planning to propose to her boyfriend. However none of us are sure whether this means she should buy a ring? Ideally she wouldn't as she's a single mum with 3 kids so not too well off but she's unsure of the ettiquette! What do you think?

A marriage proposal should go hand in hand with presenting a ring to seal it. although nowadays, even if the man's proposing, it normal ends up with the couple going out together another time to chose the ring together. I think this takes the romance out of it as the man you're marrying should have an idea of what ring you would like. So I would say that it would be best to do it with a ring, and it doesn't have to be expensive. Good luck to them - all the best for their future.
Thanks Lennon. When I was proposed too my boyfriend (not husband) already had my ring which was fab. This would have been my preference anyway as I'd have known he'd really thought about proposing, not just done it on the spur of the moment! Didn't know if men liked being given an engagement ring as much as girls do? Any ideas from anyone else?
