My key fob has just stopped working. The car is less than six years old and less tha 7,000 miles. Is this normal?
Managed to lock the car via the key and the driver's door lock, but does the fob just need a new battery or it it something more complicated?

It almost certainly just needs a new CR2032 battery. They're sold in supermarkets (e.g. https://groceries.asda.com/product/lantern-watch-batteries/energizer-cr2032-button-cell-batteries/910001145228 ), in hardware stores, DIY stores (e.g. http://www.diy.com/departments/diall-cr2032-lithium-battery/190150_BQ.prd ) and loads...

Thanks Chris. Brilliant as always. Changed the battery- for once had a pack of them in the cupboard under the stairs.
The battery is working fine in that the little red light shows up on the fob but it has been suggested that I need to go to the dealer to get it reset.
Will pop along to Hove sometime this week. But again thanks.
Hi Jennykenny. Most keys have a capacitor, effectively a tiny battery. If you can change your battery in less than 20 seconds it should still hold the programme.
Why go to a dealer ?

They will charge an arm and a leg .

Take it to a Auto Locksmith
