I wouldn't get too worked up about leaving the dog all on its own.

Due to circumstances, Little Willy is left alone for long periods and doesn't seem to have any ill effects. I always leave the radio on for him
( Radio 4, of course ! ) and when he was younger he had plenty of toys to play with. He has the window to look out of as well, and he's fine.
When I was last at the vet with young Francis there was a bloke there who was waiting while the vets operated on his lady dog. She was a Bulldog and she was having a caesarean as she was unable to give birth naturally. She dig give birth to two healthy puppies.

The guy said that he will be able to sell the puppies for about £1,500 each. I was amazed that people would pay that sort of money for a puppy. He went on to say that due to various problems with the pregnancy (and he said just before it too) they would be making a loss.

My first dog cost me nothing and he was a fantastic dog, dog number two was a rescue dog and he cost £25.

My boxer pup used to get left alone for 4 hours while I was working and she literally destroyed a sofa, foam everywhere.
Prudie...we had a boxer like that in the 60's....but we loved her to bits !

Best family dog that there ever was. My little brother, only 2-3 at the time, would curl up with the dog and go to sleep, and she would never stir until he had woken up. M brother also used to eat out of the dogs bowl as well, although that wasn't corrugated !
//corrugated// ???
Bloody spellcheck......encouraged !

bunch of idiots on here, think ill retire !!
LOL.
Experienced dog owners are giving you sensible advice...but to you they are idiots. Why bother asking?
IMHO getting another dog to keep the existing one company is the wrong reason for having it - it would be better to give the existing dog more company - there's no point in having a dog if you are out most of the time then asleep for 6/8 hours a day - how much company does the dog get it that sort of routine - it really isn't a good life for the dog- they are social creatures and like to feel as though they belong. There is no guarantee another dog will be accepted by your dog and as for breeding to earn some money from them is not a good enough reason to do this.
Better to get the dog you already have speyed then she can go out more as I'm assuming she is confined to barracks when she comes in season.
You can't choose who your dog will like (if any) so all in all I think it's a very bad idea.
While I come across some nice tempered chihuahuas when out walking Sally...there's also quite a few very yappy, and not well socialised ones. They'll have a go at any other dog. A bit sad to see.
Fight no mate yes.
