Sewing Recommendations For Beginner?
ChatterBank5 mins ago
Its so hot at the mo (i hate summer!) and i really can not sleep much the last few weeks, though not been very good sleeper for last few years. Mostly as I am to hot and brain too active as am worring or thinking too much.
Anyway was in town today and could not seem to find any herbal sleeping tablets in superdrug, i remember i took these a while ago and they were good. Should i try boots?
Also any other tips? aside from relax etc?

I usually end up going downstairs and watching some crap film on tv til I pass out of boredom. I am not made for summer, I burn so easily and I get hayfever..I REALLY hate summer and I never understand how people look forward to having to squint, sweat and wilt for 2 or 3 months of the year.
I will watch this post with intrest to see if anybody has any tips for getting to sleep!
ah yes water spray bottle seems gd idea and think i will dig out some of my nettle tea!
Well maybe i will try to use my time till 2am doing something maybe reading or doing job applications...tho wont submit them till hav checked them in the morn!
Yes i agree with the point about summer being bad...i dont like the sweatyness, the stuffy warm all the time ness and flies. Tho I do like it when is sunny and kinda warm but a bit of wind so can sit in the garden and read!
krusty- what a great idea! best herbal sleep aids ive found are calms (they do special night time ones) they are sugar coates so easy to swallow & taste nice (most smell & look like dried poop!)
best advice is to form a sleep routine & after a while whatever 'rituals' you perform will become a sleep trigger (sounds a bit ocd i know!). also try the traditional methods like camemile tea or warm milk, dont eat anything big for an hour before bed, also lavender oil may help.
finally- that magicool stuff is quite good. you may need to keep waking up to use it & your sheets will get soaked, but oh sweet relief!
Beejaybee....
Erm re your suggestion to take ALL clothers off ...dunno why but dont like sleeping totally in the nude!
Will go by boots tommorow.
When i had a gf....used to find fell fast asleep after doing a certian something...i fit male stereotype badly! im sure not all men fall asleep after and i dont do it all the time!
I don't like sleeping nude either - what if there was a fire and I had to run out of the house naked. I wouldn't like that at all.
If you wake up in the night and can't get back to sleep for thinking, try eating a biscuit. It's supposed to draw the blood down to your stomach away from your brain (not all the blood, obviously!!), and helps you get to sleep.
I find that if I'm too hot to sleep, I take the dogs in the garden, and just going outside gets me fresh and cool again so I can doze off.
The "cold water bottle" sounds good too though!
Like you doglady, I couldn't sleep in the nude for the very same reasons, so I wear shorts pyjamas!
If I do get hot during the night, I go downstairs for an ice cold glass of orange barley water & a biscuit - it's not long before I'm back in bed & zzzzzzz!
P.S. The sun sets at the back of our house & our bedroom is in the front - it's much cooler in there which helps too!
