A suitable party leader or not? If the DM dug deep enough I'm sure they could find skeletons in most politicians.

The only reason that UKIP did not get any more seats in parliament is due to our outdated electoral system, when a political party can get a huge number of the electorate voting for them & end up with one seat in parliament to represent them it seems to me there is something very wrong with the system.
UKIP have about 20 council seats and gained full 7 assembly seats in............
......... Wales. Haha. Of course it is not as easy to gerrymander the vote in Wales as it is in England. When mother Theresa rearranges the boundaries to be the same as they were before Bliar changed them all will become clear.

The proportional representation system which is what you suggest has it's own faults. The main one is that it ensures there will almost inevitably be a coalition government with no party being able to pursue it's full policy. Of course that may be what you want , but it is not how I want the system.

Mikey > But what use are they now ? (UKIP)
Well,if such a minority party can be instrumental in creating the circumstances whereby Cameron's demise was brought forward, who knows what damage they could cause?
They could expose many a politician yet and the immigration issue is here to stay of course...

They are only a protest vote agchristie. To achieve anything more requires them to gain seats in Westminster, something that they have failed to do in anything other than a very minor. It would help if their Leader would have seat, but they can't even achieve that.
UKIP understand this and that is why they contest every by-election and General Election. They know that without representation, they can't go any further forward. But in contesting every seat, they spread their limited appeal and funds far too thinly across the country. They fought in far too many constituencies where they had no chance whatsoever of winning.
Parliament has seats for candidates that come first....there are no Silver and Bronze seats available.
