/// Foreign Office advice to women travelling in India suggests they 'respect local dress codes and customs and avoid isolated areas, including beaches, when alone at any time of day'. ///
Wrap up girls, you know it makes sense.

/// If you include Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in your definition of 'Indians', you are going to get in one a helluva mess. ///
And why would that be?
They may be separate countries but they are still part of the Indian sub-continent, are they not?
Just as the people of the continent of Africa's many countries are still Africans.

/// Perhaps you should inform Ed that you are changing the rules on the site now! ///
I am not or even have the power to change the rules of the site, I am merely expressing an observation.
Many including myself have inadvertently repeated the views of another AB, but most have had the courtesy to apologise to the originator of the particular view.
But then politeness does not seem to be included in your character, you only demand it from others.

aog; Many years ago in Britain, people referred to all the people from that part of the world as "Indians" (you apparently still do). Only as it unfolded did many begin to see that they were not a group. The term Indian Subcontinent smacks of the Raj and I never hear it used today, there exists, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and arguably Kashmir.
Your analogy with Africa falls short too. There are no such people as "Africans",
Israel is just as much in Africa as Somalia.

Asit happens I know a number of Indian women who live there who wear what is being described as 'Western dress' I also have numerous other friends from around the world who, irrespective of their nationality or religion, choose to wear what they want.
The Minister is expressing himself poorly, just like you so frequently do AOG.

No can't see Israel listed amongst the African countries either.
