I got the pack out of the freezer last night to defrost and I've just gone to start making late when I've noticed the sell by date - Dec 2014!! They look perfectly fine but I can't check smell as I have zero sense of smell. Shall I use, bin or give to cats??

Bin them to be on safe side!..
If they have been in the freezer the sell by date does not matter, but they may have deteriorated over 2 years and have 'freezer burn'. Put a small piece in a pan, cook and taste. Then you can make decision if it is palatable or not. I have used meat I have found at the back of the freezer for longer than that and it has been OK>
I find that offal can get quite strong if frozen for a long time. I don’t think it would kill anybody but it might not be tasty. It certainly won’t have gone off if frozen. If it was me I’d bin it....certainly it would be safe for an animal but I’d be dubious about doing that because I have no desire to clear up after digestive distress!
Unless they have visible freezer burn I'd carry on with your pate.

Late?? I meant pate !! I've opened the pack and there is no freezer burn - they look as though I've just bought them.
I'd go for it.
then use them, the pate might taste a bit stronger than usual.

Think I'll let Mr Smow try it first then : )
They'll be as fine as chicken livers can ever be i.e. pretty revolting.
At this time of night nearly quarter to ten - they will be well aff.
If you don't post tomorrow - we'll know what happened LOL
