a few months ago I had a sms message asking if I wanted to enter a competition, if not I was to reply STOP. I did. This activated a £3. charge monthly. I have been away and now find I have this charge monthly. From EE I found out that the company is called SOCKMAN. I rang them and they said all their operators are busy but they would call me back. They didn't. How can I sort this ridiculous charge? Any input appreciated. Bram

you have to cancel the charge / block it on your bank
Surely it is charged to the mobile account not the bank ?

If this is so: you can only get EE to stop it; and be aware it is unwise to reply to spam from places you have not already had dealings with and trust. If EE says it can't threaten to take your business elsewhere to a new mobile number the scammers don't know.

I think it is Socman, judging by lots of angry people on the internet.

I would look at the following web sites and see if they can help.
http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/protect-yourself/mobile-phone-fraud
http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/for-consumers/making-an-enquiry

Hope that helps

Thank you all. It was SOCMAN. When I rang the number I thought it said sockman!
A similar thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I'm on pay as you go, so just got a new sim card to stop it.
