The Bridge was opened 50 years today by the Queen. I remember this being on the news. I was only 13 at the time ! There is now a second Severn crossing, opened in 1996. Not sure how we would manage without them these days !

Its when you get to the Welsh side FF. And the good thing these days is we collect the Toll on OUR side now !
Is there a wrecked bridge...?
do you need a passport to re-enter England as you do down here in Plimmoth and your readies as to the toll - free into God's country, of course....and remember there's a customs search to you not carrying Cornish Pasties and Clotted Cream into the county of the heathens.

No...the Toll, which is bloody high by the way....£6:60 ! ....is only collected in a westerly direction.

Actually DTC, the Old Bridge was the second bridge to be constructed, in a way :::

The spans are now all gone, but on the English side, there still exists the stanchions for the movable bridge over the Sharpness Canal :::

Just up-river from this movable bridge, are the famous Purton Hulks :::

The whole area is well worth a visit !
you should have a meet with Boaty as to the canal - I won't give away too much, but get down to the Tudor Arms and meet him. I'll mention it at supper with him and Dubirdie tomorrow night, a pub I suspect you will like.....
Happy 50th anniversary to the Severn Bridge. xx Also, happy 50th anniversary to Star Trek. Live long and prosper. xx
