It should be fun Jackdaw as its one of my favourite things to do is go to the speedway but I'm just not feeling it right now.

Owlerton Stadium isn't in a particularly attractive part of Sheffield, Queenie. (I'd love to be there but only because it's just over half a mile from my lad's house; I can't think of much else to recommend it though!).
How are you getting there (car or public transport) and which direction will you be coming from?

Assuming that you'll be coming down the M1, off at Jn 36 and down the A61, I can't think of a great deal to recommend to you along your route.
The best pubs for lunch are probably those in the attractive village of Grenoside, which you'll see signposted off to your right as you come down the A61. However, as the speedway doesn't start until 5.30pm you might not be arriving in the area until later (although, of course, you could still call into one of them on your way back). You'll actually be passing Grenoside's 'bottom' Red Lion on the A61. (Grenoside has two 'Red Lion's. The 'top' one is in the main village; the 'bottom one is on the A61). I've drunk many a pint in there and it's a pleasant place for food and drink.
I really ought to go to bed but this cat on my knee doesn't want to let me!!!

I shall bear it in mind. I haven't a clue which way we are going. I assumed the A1M but could be wrong. We need to negotiate around the Great North Run.
I sympathise there all though not one of my 6 is around at the moment. OH is snoring away beside me though. I'm sure the cat won't be too disgruntled if you pick them up and say it's time for your cat nap!

If you're coming down the A1(M), leave at Jn 43, joining the M1.
Follow the M1 to Jn 36, taking the A61 into Sheffield.
Owlerton Stadium is on the A61.
Easy peasy!
You're making me realise how much I miss Sheffield or, more accurately, certain people in Sheffield. The guy I think of as my own son (even though, biologically, he's not) lives just down the road from there and his mother used to run the day-to-day operations at Owlerton Stadium, as their Secretary.
