Whenever we are away from home I cannot send emails. I can receive them ok, in fact today I had 56! Last time I came on I had 123.
I know I used to be able to send emails but don't know what changed. The messages stay in the out box until I get home then they get sent. Anyone any idea why this happens?

There's a problem accessing your SMTP server.

Go into the settings for your email account on your iPad (which I assume that you're using) to look for 'Outgoing Mail Server' or 'SMTP Server'. Somewhere there you should find a setting for 'Authentication'. I suspect that it's set to 'Off' but it probably needs to be set to 'Password'.

Sorry to be so long in replying Chris. Can only access wifi in the bar.
Can't find either of your suggestions in settings.
I'll just have to put up with it for now. We set off for home tomorrow, arriving Tuesday evening so they will be sorted then. Thanks for helping me though.
See this (but ignore the bit about the Outgoing Port number - just leave it unchanged):
