Can Someone Help With A Biology Question?

You have a container of water. This container is divided into two halves, Side 1 and Side 2, by a selectively permeable membrane. Side one contains 50 osm (osmoles) of large proteins which cannot pass through the membrane and water. Side 2 contains only 10 osm of large proteins and water. Following the rules of osmosis, in which direction would you expect the water to move?
You drop a red blood cell into Side 1. The cell begins to shrivel. Would this make Side A isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic relative to the cell?
If the cell instead lysed in response to submersion in a solution, would that solution be isotonic, hypertonic, or hypotonic?
How would the volume of a cell change if it was added to an isotonic solution?

water will travel to dilute the concentrated bit
you should point out that work will be done in doing this
so the solutions will get ever so slightly hotter
shrivelling - hypertonic
poppinng hypotonic
last sentence should be 'were' and not was
and no change ( rather obviously )
and yeah promise me you will re read the chapter you've just done in class
