Unexpected 'fainting'
33 Answers
I'm not talking a swoon here more I knew it was going to happen but couldn't stop it!!
I had spent a lovely afternoon sitting in a bar listening to music over a course of 5 hours I had 4 drinks. Then 3 hours later I had a balanced meal with a glass of wine.
We got back to our room and I suddenly felt very hot, but my face was icecold, I called to hubby who came and talked to me and that's the last thing I remember until this morning when I wake up in bed feeling utterly drained.
Hubby has filled in the missing timeline, apparently despite him talking to me I went a deathly shade of white the sweat was pouring off me and I totally passed out. I was out for 5 minutes and he brought me round by slapping my hand face and knuckles in my chest.
He then put a cold cloth on my neck and face got me to drink some water and eat something sweet kept me awake for 30 mins then finally let me sleep (as I said I don't remember any of this)
Do I need to seek medical assistance apart from feeling drained I feel a little nauseous
Did he do the the right thing he is concerned that this may happen again
Typical it happens on my birthday whilst we are abroad
Thanks

5 hours, sitting, drinking, eating, plus the significant underlying medical conditions that you have had for years (based on my assumption that you have had other AB usernames) and there would be a very logical explanation of your "faint."
No big deal.
However i do agree with other posters, that there are many conditions that could explain your symptoms and a visit to your GP,re. blood tests (thyroid) and perhaps ECG may allay your anxiety.
Yes I think given the story, your husband acted very appropriately.

That is because you and the links go straight for the "dramatic" rather than the "common or garden" explanations and these posts can certainly "spook" posters, particularly some on AB. However this has been less evident in your posts over the past 3or 4 years, but one day the "bizarre" may well happen.
In medicine.....commonest things occur commonest. Diagnosis is all about listening to the patient, examination and investigation and from then on..."playing the odds."

This is exactly what happened to me after a fateful lunch at The Shard, only I passed out on the concourse of Liverpool St station. A&E found low blood pressure that returned to normal, bloods etc all fine. My BP does tend to be at the lower end of normal. They called it something like a venal vega (sp) episode. Went to follow up at GP and she is convinced (as I was) that the lift in The Shard dropped my BP. I'll never travel in one of those fast ones again.
Lol rocky raccoon over the course of years this has happened in a hospital room whilst visiting mil, the toilets of a restaurant, a cinema, a shopping centre, in my own home and now on the toilet in my hotel.
Khandro no stairs I took the lift, it has been investigated by Drs each time but they can find nothing only one suggestion was it was an insulin dump
