Middle Of The Night Blues

I frequently wake up in the small hours and it takes me ages to get back to sleep

This probably sounds daft but I live alone and I feel really isolated at 3am staring at the bedroom ceiling thinking the whole world is asleep bar me, is there anyone on here at that time :(

Quite a common occurrence when I was in the RAF. Wake up, still sozzled, and head for the nearest door, which often turned out to be someone's wardrobe.

In my college days, in a mixed hall of residence, a nocturnal trip to the loo required making oneself look respectable enough not to offend the ladies (or simply to avoid being laughed at by them!), leaving one's room and walking along the corridor to the 'Gent's' (which was actually used as 'unisex' anyway).

Alternatively, there was a handy washbasin in each room ;-)

Every male student always had a bottle of strong bleach kept under his sink (to eliminate any embarrassing odours) and, I'm given to understand, so did quite a few of the female students too!

That reminds me of an old joke.

A and B go back to A's flat after a session.

After a while B asks if he can use the toilet.

A replies that the toilet is outside and it's very cold, so just use the sink.

After ten minutes B shouts through, "Have you got any paper?"

. . . although some people genuinely do seem to get confused. The toilets at Cambridge bus station have separate doors, each marked with the 'Male' symbol, for both WCs and urinals. It's not uncommon to enter a urinal there and find a turd on the floor!

Oh well, 3am has come and gone and Breadstick seems to be sleeping soundly, so I'm off to bed.
