I have to admit, I've always wondered how male patients cope with 'intimate shaving' prior to operations as the folicles are all quite proud down there and a razor would surely nick every one -unless of course its just my folicles. I'll just have to hope I never need any surgery.
You didn't say, vivaciauk, why you ask? If its a problem with shaving being painful there are loads of tips for men with sensitive skin to follow.
The reason i ask is b/c my partner shaves everyday has tried oils wet shaving and using an electric shaver but still gets sore round the neck area. He never wears aftershave because its too painful. I thought maybe using immac or something would get rid of it in the same way it does my leg hair..
Thankyou for the replies.
I have very dry and sensitive skin (mentioned about my "unmanly" moisturising in another post) but even so there are only certain types I can use and it took me a long while to find them. This is not advertising, but the only shaving stuff I can use is Simple for Men (Gel or cream) and I can only use a moisturiser from Garnier (can't remember the name but know it when I see it) and I have to use that every day.
I can't use the balms mentioned but I do put aftershave on as often the sting takes some of the irritation away.
Viviacuk, I thought that might be the reason you asked. i suffer the same myself. Here's a few tips based on my experience. 1) Only wet shave twice a week, use electric in between and not at all on weekends if possible. 2) Wash face well with soap and water first as it softens the bristles. 3) Use oils with both wet and electric shave but use gel too when wet shaving. I first tried king of shaves but its very thin so I don't see how their recommendation of just a few drops can work and it works out very expensive. I've found massage oils or even light olive oil l(the ancient greeks used it to shave)is much better and you can use more of it. 4) Shave before showering, that way your face gets time to calm down before you put on the balm and the bleeding has time to stop before you put your inevitably white shirt on. 5) Finally, wash face with cold water and dry before putting on the balm as countless women have told me it closes the pores whatever that means. And watch out for Nivea balm -don't know what its like now but I tried it when it first came out and stung worse than after shave (some of the balms still have alcohol in so avoid those, they are a con).
I expect your other half has tried at least some of the above but if there are any he hasn't then give them a try and if he has any he can pass on to me I'd be very grateful. A beard made me look too old!
