What A Day

Had the podiatrist - for once that went well - getting there was a struggle the whole of Edinburgh was out in force this morning. Road closures didn't help.
Had a nice dash round the supermarket and then nipped to the Building Society and had to sort out the Hotel for Cardiff - what a palaver but that's done.
Then I had the hospital re the new meter...
We got enough information from it to decide where we can go from here BUT in 3 weeks time I go back for another 2 week stint on the blooming thing. I told my nurse about it what I like what I didn't and I agreed that I'd do it just this one last time.
Current plan is to inject before meals when possible - we had to negotiate on that one, DAFNE wants you to eat first and dose after so that incase you don't complete your meal you won't over dose. But now the hospital want you to do it before so I said it didn't work last time BUT I will try it on days where I'm not at work and where it is suitable and they ok'd that. Not to change my tea time ratio dosage and I've to attempt a Carb free meal when a good BM permits so can see what the Longer Lasting Insulin is up to. So got a bit to sort out.
On the plus side I told my nurse that I'm currently helping a girl get back on track with her Diabulimia - which I have been through and she is really proud that I can use my experience to help someone.
Now I'm away for a hot shower and curl up in my pjs with my Kindle for a spell.
Enjoy the rest of your evening

Sista noticed that nephew who has been recently diagnosed seems to be putting on weight. Weight that he really needs and suits. Does insulin make you gain weight. She says he is looking really well.
Sounds as if they don't see me as often and that would be true but sista lives near a great park where nephews bring their kiddies so call in to her. Have a good night Queenie.

Jenny - yes it can. A few reasons why. Obviously when diagnosed you lose weight as the body breaks down what it can to get energy but once you start getting it back in your weight should return to normal. Weight gain can also be a sign of too much insulin but that doesn't sound like the case.
It's all down to the stress and what not of losing mum Anne, I'm doing not bad but we have been working to try and resolve it the past few months. I'm neither up nor down I'm slap bang stuck in the middle. I know was great in and out quite quick this morning. She would and I feel great being able to be useful too.
What colour are you going for Grasscarp...I'd like to paint mine but my hip won't permit me to bed forward to do so, so they will have to be naked for a a spell.
If you want the hotel Tony yes and the tickets at last years prices you do need to get in early - they don't go on sale until Friday though.
