back in the 70s read a childrens book about children who had to go through a wood to go home they were allways scared and so was i to read it never got past the first couple of pages now iam grow up love to read it all the through gratful for any help

They were by Enid Blyton. There are three children, one of the girls was called Fanny and I think there might have been a Jo. They moved from the city to the country and initially were scared of the wood as the trees were a slightly different colour than other trees and made a strange whispering sound, then one day they ended up in the wood and discovered that the whispering sound was the trees talking and they met up with the people (Moonface and Silky among them) who live in the Faraway Tree in the middle of the wood.
Those books were my absolute favourite when I was little! my mum used to read them to me until I could read them myself ~ they were so magical!
I lost all my copies during a house move so my mum surprised me with a condensed version for my birthday last year. I have enjoyed reading them all over again :o)
