So many people have so much trouble with the ads here, how is it other sites don't seem to cause the same issues (or certainly far fewer issues)?

Do you mean your pc gets a virus? Are you using suitable antivirus software?

I know it's frowned upon but download Adblock for whichever browser you're using or the browser itself. It solved my problems and is free.

On your bike T or H, yrs I use much plenty of the anti virus stuff, haven't had, a use for adblocker for ages but used it when I was a habitual ABer. It 's not as bad on my windows 8 phone but it's poor.

Firefox, I've used it for about 6 ears now and it's fine. Only on AB dom I get issues!

Try AB on Chrome, Dot ( with the unmentionable installed of course ).

Unsure from what has been said what the real issue is. Slowness ? Pop-ups ? Something else ? Try a Malwarebytes scan. Try a different browser (solved an issue I had yesterday). Naturally, don't use any form of ad blocker.

I've got avg malwarebytes and adblovker. What happens on my laptop is that when i type the screen freezes and the screen is not responding

That does sound like a rogue ad, which is why I think it has become attractive to get rid of them. If the ad agencies only dealt with simple ads there wouldn't be this compatibility issue. (Should never stop the rest of the page (or browser) loading and working anyway.)
