They have really got grubby with baked on food . I've tried the bicarbonate of soda paste left on them but didn't do much. What else can I try?

Soak overnight in something like Ariel?
Maybe try and gently scratch off first? Then add lemon juice to you bicarbonate of soda.

Get yourself some of this. It's available from Wilko, Lakeland, Tesco ASDA, Dunelm as well as on line.....its bluudy brilliant stuff.
