Hypnotism
9 Answers
Seventeen months ago, I underwent a hypnotism programme to avoid sugar and chocolate.
My therapist put me in a light trance, and various subliminal messages were played to me, and he recorded the entire session onto a CD which I took home and replayed every night for three weeks to 'embed' the suggestions.
I was delighted that, from the time I came home from the initial session, it was a success, and I have not touched chocolate for over a year - the craving and indeed any desire for it, having disappeared.
I now find my desire for chocolate is coming back, so last night, I played the CD again, but it appears to have had no effect at all.
Can it be that my brain won't take in the same messages a second time?
Will I need to go for another session of hypnotism?
Any advice gratefully received.

Has something changed in your life that might make you less enthusiastic about limiting the amount that you want to consume ? //
Indeed - I appreciate that the therapy will only succeed with my implicit co-operation, which is still in place. Nothing has changed that I am aware of, unless the messages have simply 'worn off'?
This is what I am seeking information to clarify.
Thanks for your reply.

I am with OG here - when you went for hypnotism there will have been a reason why you were more determined to give up chocolate a year ago so the hypnotism merely SUPPORTED your action.
You may find that your willpower to not go back to chocolate is not the same this time rather than the hypnotism not working.
I beat my addiction to chocolate by eating less not cutting out altogether. By this I mean that I eat say 10 chocolate buttons not the whole 150g bag.

Thanks Quoi.
At the time of my initial hypnotism I was eating chocolate up to three times a day, and heading for diabetes.
I have recently eaten one chocolate bar and really enjoyed it - but felt no compulsion to return to my previous level of consumption.
Maybe I should simply enjoy chocolate now and again, and accept that this is a better way to enjoy life!
