Why Are The Bbc So Obsessed With Top Gear?

Why are they spending so much money on one person. The BBC , rightly or wrongly sacked Clarkson and thus destroyed the show so why continue to through good money after bad (Tax payers money - the licence is a tax)

Why dont they let it go and invest in something else?

If the BBC had binned the format when they sacked Clarkson and tried something different (sounds like Monty Python) they could have justified their actions but having tried to carry on with new presenters they can't abandon it now without losing face and admitting their mistake and that's far worse for them than sqandering our money.

Top Gear continues to run at a profit for the BBC, and has actually been sold to more countries since Clarkson left. So they are not wasting anyone's money, they are earning money that can be spent on other things. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good anti-beeb rant.

If a presenter can generate x millions but another x*4 millions the surely the later presenter should be paid more?
