Driving License

Hello all. I sound really thick asking this but; My Driving License is falling to bits cos it's so old. How do I go about getting a new one and how much does it cost? *Counts money* ;o)

go to www.dvla.gov.uk for more info. But this is what they say "In order to exchange your paper driving licence for a photocard driving licence you must complete application form D1 (available from most post offices,and enclose your current driving licence together with the appropriate fee [18 shiney new pounds - which seems like quite a lot really]). You must also enclose original documentation confirming your identity and a passport-type size colour photograph taken against a plain light background. Send your completed application and fee to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BU or you may be able to use the Post Office Checking Service."

If you move house you can get it updated for free, I think( I will know more when I go to the post office with mine this weekend) but moving house will probably cost a bit more than eighteen quid!

You could give a relatives address and then when you get your new one, change back, and update to a photo driving license( they send you a form with your new license to send them a piccy). Then you get a picture license for free. ( know a couple of people who have done this. And no, one of them isnt me!!
