Florida wedding licence

My partner and myself are going on holiday to Orlando Florida in December with a few family members. We both think that after 19 years living together it's probably time we got married.

The question is -: Is there any way to get the required licence sent to us in the UK before we go. We can then plan a little surprise our families with a quick wedding and knees up.

From my copy of 'A Brits Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World': After describing Walt Disney and Universal weddings it says you can do it yourself by calling at the Osceola Couny Courthouse (gives address & phone no) or The Orange County Courthouse (again, address & phone no given). Both parties must be present to apply for the marriage licence, which costs $88.50 (in cash) and is valed for 60 days, while the ceremony (equivalent to a Britsh register office) can be performed at the same time by the clerk for an extra $20. Passports and birth certificates are required.

This is the 2005 guide so I would buy an up to date one with up to date prices and addresses then contact one of the courthouses to confirm the above.

spearmint - I think your best bet is to contact one of the County Courthouses as they will have all the up to date information, though even if you can't pre-arrange the licence (they may well need you there in person) you could still plan the silly wedding!

I got married in Florida in February, All you need is your passports and about $100 to get a license.

The form you have to fill out is fairly simple and doent take more than 3 mins. I would recomend going to Osceola court house (in kissimmi) instead of orlando's main one as it is much faster. the main one in Orange county deals with all the criminal and traffic offences and can leave you queing for hours.
