Back in my twenties I attempted to rescue a cat. I was a window cleaner living and working in Surrey in those days. One day I find a group of people staring up at the roof of a large house. This one didn't want that hook/hoop around its neck. It is nice to see that people care about cats and dogs. Some of the animals that need to be rescued were in dangerous situations because of humans.

How people cat throw tiny kittens out of moving cars is something that normal humans will never understand.

Wolfie....I put this on here today, especially for you !

I agree...cruelty against any animal is abhorrent to me. I guess in this case, he must have climbed out the window, although if a cat could it, so could a young child....doesn't ear thinking about.

I notice it happened in Singapore, so maybe others countries don't have the same safety standards as us.
Aww poor little mite, thank goodness it was ok.
I am so glad the cat was rescued, it must have been really scared.

Baldric....I had forgotten all about Eric's little lad....very sad.
Cats can fall great heights and not be killed - Eric Clapton's son was on the 49th floor. If I lived as high up as that I would not be able to go near the windows. Merlin falls off the sofa so she is dangerous enough in our house.

aaaargh I cant watch !
it didnt turn into a flying cat did it ?
Not a splat cat Peter, it's safe.
Lived to tell the tale !
Back in my twenties I attempted to rescue a cat. I was a window cleaner living and working in Surrey in those days.

One day I find a group of people staring up at the roof of a large house. A cat has climbed to the top of a tree at one side of house, has jumped on to the roof and is now sitting up on top of chimney. Owner of cat distraught. Neighbours worried. VE, then a young man of chivalrous instinct and heroic disposition (both qualities long since abandoned) extends his longest ladder up to the guttering, climbs up and tries to coax cat down. No luck with that. So as the cat won't come to VE VE decides to go to the cat. Roof is steep, so VE takes off shoes and scampers up the roof to the chimney, grabs chimney, grabs cat. Ripple of applause from audience.

Crunch time. Reality check. Need to get down roof with cat, wiggle myself on to the ladder and climb back down. Heroism gives way to (shall we say?) a "prudent reassessment" of my position. What did I learn at school about acceleration and gravity? Like Mrs May's Brexit strategy this is clearly not a thing to be rushed into. So one cat trapped on roof-top has become one cat and a window-cleaner trapped on roof-top.

There was a happy outcome for VE and moggie without bothering the fire brigade. A telephone engineers' van passed by after only a few minutes with its very long ladders. The guys climb up and lay a shorter ladder up to the roof which they hold in place so that I and cat can descend slowly and get down safely.
VE - you also discovered that cats are evil, devious (and lots of other negative descriptions) even when you are trying to rescue them.

A few years back I watched a US programme about a Vets A&E. A woman rushed into the clinic with her cat - both covered in blood. The cat had got itself stuck onto a fence, almost impaled, and his human had rescued him.

She got 30+ cat bites to one of her hands and arm from trying to rescue the ungrateful moggie. She ended up in hospital for several days with an infected limb. They thought that she was going to lose the arm.

The cat was fine in a couple of days.

There is a saying ''A dog needs a good reason to bite its owner. A cat bites because it is a cat''

Cats (in my experience when I've been "attacked") are more likely to use their claws than to bite, Wolf. They can do this if they're scared, don't know what you're doing to them or why.

Agree with the "devious" bit, though.
