La Palma Canary Islands

Hello. Im thinking of going to La Palma in Canary Islands next July. I know its the smaller of the Canaries and lesser known but has anyone been? The hotel we are looking at is in Los Cancajos. My husband gets a bit bored lying on the beach or by the pool and does like to go off for a wander. We both like to go out for dinner in the evening and some drinks and also have a bit a walk round. I know it will be pretty quiet - which is what we want. Does anyone have any experience of the island or in particular Los Cancajos?

I don't want to put you off the idea. I'm sure it is a beautiful island, but I think I'm correct in saying that flights aren't very frequent, in case you had to get home quickly, for what ever reason.
We planned to go about three years ago, and didn't for that reason, but maybe things are different now?

Ps we went to La Gomera which was lovely and easy to get to from Tenerife.

The only direct flights from the UK to La Palma are with easyJet (from Gatwick, Tuesdays and Saturdays) and Thomson (Thursdays from both Gatwick and Manchester).

Had a very pleasant holiday on the island three years ago. I would describe it as similar to Lanzarote fifty years ago. We liked that your husband may not.
