Online Food Ordering - Fresh?

This is all new to me - if I order cakes (packeted not loose from bakery) online from Waitrose (for example) for store collection on a Saturday will they still be fresh/in date if they are not eaten until Monday??

The stuff they pick for you will have the use by date you would expect to find in store. If the use by date is shorter than you would expect then they give the item free.

They don't pick your order until the day of your delivery so you'll get it as fresh as you do in store.

Of course, some supermarkets "pick" orders from the shop shelves (Waitrose does) and some direct from large warehouses.....so there may be a difference in "freshness".
The big advantage of shopping instore yourself is that you can ferret about at the rear of the displays and get the "newest" stuff.....guilty, m'lord!
