I have just watched this BBC 4. I haven't had much luck in posting BBC IPlayer links here on AB these last few days, so just go to the iplayer and put the title in.

This was really fascinating ! In included interviews with the original engineers and workmen on the bridge, which is 50 years ago this year.Loads of footage of the work involved.

Just my kind of program !

My personal favourite bridge is the 'Coronado Bridge' in San Diego California. The majestic sweeping curve rises to 198 feet above the water and is 2.1 miles long. The brigde is high enough to allow aircraft carriers or battleships to pass under and into the bay and San Diego Naval Base.
