comes on automatically in my Hyundai i10 Premium, eventually I do notice and out it off. Meanwhile it ias been wasting my fuel.
Surely there must be a way of disabling it coming on without being asked. ?
Thank you.
Modern air con uses very little extra fuel, so little it's hardly measureable.
The old ones were very heavy on fuel, you could feel the engine slow down when the AC came on.
As said, you must have the auto temperature control set, it heats the car when it is below the set temperature and cools it when the temperature gets above the set point. Read your handbook!
If I turn my heating on to the windscreen on my Ford Focus, the AC comes on automatically. It may be the same on your Hyundai. Have you read the manual?
Air-con also dries the air out, so it is better to have it on for demisting.
Thank you, I had no idea it would be needed in colder weather.
I had a trip to Harrogate, and yes the windscreen is where I have the thibg directed. Will change and look again.
Yes, I really will try and read the handbook.
My shutters come down in my brain when I see too much info. Will look, honest
In some cars heating/climate controls automatically reset to come on every time the ignition is switched on, so, as annoying as it is you just have to remember to switch it off every time. Must admit I find it really annoying when the car tells me what it wants to do in numerous functions. All I want to do is be able to do is switch something on or off and have it stay like that until I change my mind!
Many people leave their aircon on all the time because it prevents misted interior windows in winter....widely discussed on car forums (eg VW).
I find I don't need to leave it on, but do use it weekly for a while to keep the system in good condition.

I think the Hyundai has a similar system to Electrochem's Ford.
It appears the SE has climate control so you may as well use it to your advantage. Select the appropriate temperature, say 20 degC and you shouldn't have to touch it all year road.
It was only the weekend ladybirder, we had a parchment exhibition in the Cedar Court Hotel. Very nice it was too.
Will do as advised and keep it on, many thanks all. :)
