Or should we have separate, Black History and Asian History months, or dare I say it White History months?

/// Devante Wallace added: "It's not just about the image shared, it's the fact you have the audacity to try and bundle all non-white culture into black history month as if were not important enough to be represented individually. It's offensive to all ethnic groups." ///

Do the racists object to Pakistanis having the job ?

Maybe the sensible thing would be to not pander to skin colour related events and simply not hold them.
Lol, yes it is.

This is where the offence in the phrase "coloured" comes from.

Yes understood Ed, it just could not be called 'Coloured month', but would it be offensive to call it 'Non-White month'?
When is "White" month then?
Around January time IIRC. Brrrr....
By using Malik as a "poster boy" this was only ever going to go in One Direction.

Good point, since it hasn't been all 'blue skies and sunshine' for us also.
I think its a fair comment for the Uni to say that the activity was run by students though(if that is true) because if the authorities had stepped in and said “no they aren’t black enough” there would also have been hell to pay. Did the people who are now compaining get involved at the planning and choice stage?
And generally I wonder who started off Black History Month and why?

It is an American thingy, there it is called 'African-American History Month' so perhaps not to cause any confusion with various skin tones, perhaps it should be called 'African-UK History Month'?
Americans, as a nation, seem to be into that sort of crap. Wanting to make out their nationality is diluted with somewhere not associated with them, but with some ancestor. Not too sure what to make of that; must be some kind of psychological revelation.
Is it wrong not to care about fifty shades of brown fighting about how dark you have to be to join the club?
I agree with OG's 10:31 post.

Stop them all.
Every moth is History month, that should do for us all.
A great way to combat racism. Douglas at 11:46 for Best Answer.
Black history month refers back to slavery. Most black Americans have ancestry that didn't arrive in the Americas of their own free will, so yes it is wrong to include all non-white cultures. A lot of our black heritage is slavery driven too. Surely you can see why adding Asian, Inuit, Cherokee or Middle Eastern culture would not fit with the main reason Black History Month even exists?
