Partial means both 'very fond of' and, in music terms, 'a harmonic', a single-tone note (I can't remember the details, but it's in Chambers!).
partial = a component of a musical sound; an overtone or harmonic
Very fond is partial
and A harmonic partial is any real partial component of a complex tone that matches (or nearly matches) an ideal harmonic.
