Can it take the strain?
3 Answers
I've recently captured my home movies onto my pc. They take up a lot of room though, so i've decided to encode them into DivX using the DivX Pro codec. Are computers able to run for hours and hours like this without any detrimental effects, or is that what they are designed to do? Silly question I know, but i've been wondering for a while now. Thanks

I, like Buttons, run my pooter nearly 24/7 and only reboot to do cleaning up like defrags and so on....I also firmly believe that the turning on and off does much more damage that constant running......If you find your PC's performance tails off then you should find some freeware programmes like FreeRam which flushes out your PC's memory and monitors pefromance.....You should also perhaps consider upgrading to XP which is a much more stable OS if you haven't already done so.
