While I have many answers, I am not sure how to enter them.

The third clue AS: Column A (first column) and Row S (fourth row). The answer is 9 letters but across answer at S is only 7.

Also how are down clues to be entered?
For example at Row QR (fifth row), there is 8 letter down answer that can be entered.

Since columns are first and then rows, I thought there would be one clue that would be AQ or AR or BQ or BR.

So what goes at QR (Row 5, column 1) for a down entry?

Thanks ros. That answer does not fully explain the entry method.
For example, the answer to MG goes as across entry or down entry?
Hope someone would clarify the points in my original post.

Hankir, in many answers you need to put more than one letter in a cell. This goes for across and down answers.

The answer at your QR is from the clue to BR - the B gives you the column and the R gives you the row, solutions begin at the point where both letters meet. (This clue could have also been described as AQ or BQ or AR). Hope this helps . In case it doesn't, here's another example...

AS Church officer... the answer starts at where column A meets row C.

The part I was missing was: fit 9 letters into 7 spaces. That is some cells will have two letters.

Apologies again, Hankir - my second example was shoved in very hurriedly and I overlooked that you'd already mentioned that clue! I don't like putting two letters in one cell - partly because I haven't solved all the clues yet.

Sorry I could not reply earlier as I was busy with other things.
Have solved it all the clues.

But still working on how to draw a line.
Connecting all the squares with double letters does not make a shape that is
readily identifiable.
Will stare some more.
